Overall record will be taken into account in my power rankings, but not a whole lot. Teams with current win streaks and promise in the future will grab the top spots. How credible are these rankings u ask...not very. There are to many good teams. The pathetic Indiana Pacers have wins over two of the top teams in the league (Lakers and Celtics), it took a West powerhouse, the Nuggets, a buzzer beater by Anthony to beat the NBA worst Thunder. Teams like the Spurs are not considered to be an NBA elite team this year (but they will soon)....but face it, they can spank anyone when they are hot and healthy. Well, here is my top 10. You got a better one?
1. The Cleveland Cavaliers- Undefeated at home and firing on all cylinders, they'll stay up top until I see them lose one at home. I know they lost a tough one today to the Wizards....but fuck it I'm bias.
2. The Los Angeles Lakers- With a Christmas win over the defending champs Celtics the LA Lakers are legit. This is a team, not just the Kobe show this year. Unless someone else in the west steps up and gets several key wins like they have, then I have a hard time seeing anyone from the west being better than LA in my eyes.
3. The Boston Celtics- This is a good team, but I had a hard time putting them all the way up at 3. The Celtics are good, but at times look old. There is a lot of season left to be played and this team is one injury away from falling apart. Plus do they still have that fire in their belly? It takes alot of grit to work all the way through the playoffs and the Cavs or one of the several young and tough teams in the East seam more likely to do it. But for now, they are 3.
4. The Denver Nuggets- This team is greatly improved with over rated ball hog A.I. off the team. Billups is a fit, the Nuggets look tough, and Anthony has matured enough in my eyes to lead a team on a deep playoff run.
5. The San Antonio Spurs- They can beat anyone, they are healthy, and well.....the last few seasons has shown they are a pretty good playoff team.
6. The Orlando Magic-The Magic are a decent team that is playing out of their ass this season, they'll sail to the playoffs but don't expect them to do to much.
7. The Atlanta Hawks- Joe Johnson is the man, this is a hungry young team with alot of potential this year.
8. The New Orleans Hornets- They are not playing as good as they are. Chris Paul is the best point guard in the NBA hands down. They'll come around and challenge whoever they match up with in the playoffs.
9. The Detroit Pistons-This teams lacks and identity and many people believe they are washed up. However, let's not forget how well they have done in the playoffs in the last several years. Look for them to make a strong push to try to quite some critics.
10. The Houston Rockets-This team has one of the best looking rosters in the NBA. If the Rockets can get just a few of them to get hot, watch out for the Rockets.
With my top 10 now mentioned I will say that the conference finals will consist of my top four teams. The West has several potential prediction busters for me, but to see an East Final without the Cavs and Celtics would be a shock to me and probaly most all of you also.

i need to clarify a quick grammar error you are repeatedly making. "bias" is something that you have, not something that you are. you can be biasED, but you can not be bias. Keep that in mind with your future biased blogs.
ReplyDeletealso, congrats to the cavs for their perfect home record especially because that means that they'll take the celtics to 7 games. too bad boston will have home court advantage. oh well.
Man do I hope you are wrong Trevor. And since I know you pretty well, it's a pretty safe to assume that you are. And your back on the grammer thing? I just spit facts...I'm not all dat gud wit dose fancy words.
